Hello,
I have a Citroen Xsara 1.4i 2004. Everything was fine, the car is beautifully preserved. I bought one of those cheap Android Auto radio and I installed it. However, I noticed that the constant power supply and the key switch cables are probably switched, because I could turn the radio on basically anytime, but after the car was locked, it lost memory (so the constant voltage was on ACC and the key switch voltage was on memory.) So I wanted to switch these cables to see if it helps. I measured the voltages and indeed that's what was happening. I then switched the cables, but let it hang a bit to see if it's working. Also the previous radio had these cables switched. By a terrible coincidence, a 12V wire touched the metal construction of the radio, where I think the GND was connected to. It sparked and everything went dark.
So now when I turn the keys, my dashboard doesn't work, only thing that is emitting light is the button for rear window heating and the warning lights button (they also work if I press it and the button is blinking but not like the the LED is on and off, but more like it is on and then it shines a bit more, then less again, as if it was recieving too much power). Also the headlights will turn on and I can't turn them off. (I suspect that these were modified by previous owner, because I couldn't turn them off when the car was started - 0 position had lights on, 1 position was parking lights and 2 position was also lights on.) But before they would only turn on once the car was started, not by turning the key.
The dashboard computer is dark, the fuel indicator is stuck. I can't start the car, it is trying to start and I can smell fuel, but it won't catch. I can't open the trunk or front windows, since these are electric too. Light in the passenger storage box works if I open it. Lamp on the ceiling doesn't, but I noticed it being weird few days before. The digital clock above the radio also works and radio cables have voltage as well. During the short circuit, all of the cables were connected to the radio, all the speakers, Ground, ACC 12V, Battery 12V and the blue one (auto antenna?), as well as the large radio antenna cable.
I checked the fuses under the steering wheel and under the hood, they are all fine. I also checked the mega fuses, they are fine. I found someone with similar issue on a forum and they said they fixed it by replacing the VAN fuse, but I can't find anything about it on the internet. I left the battery disconnected for the night and tried again this morning, in hopes of memory reset on the electrical unit, but the issue remains. I think it is damaged. Can anyone help me, please?

I took it to the service, they charged me 4€ for some replacement part, something to do with cables and something else. My guess is that it's probably some connector or something, since fuses looked okay. The car is fine again!

I would be amazed if it wasnt just a blown fuse, Easy to miss, alway best to check them with a meter.
Sounds like it had lost its VAN+ supply.
