Hi, a few days ago I purchased a 2019 Peugeot Expert (similar to Jumpy, Vivaro, Proace, etc.). The car had been sitting on a lot for several months with a weak battery.
At the time of purchase, there was an error on the dashboard related to the radar. After an initial diagnosis with Diagbox and reviewing the error history, numerous errors regarding CAN communication, radar, daytime running lights, ABS/ESP controller, and starter errors were repeatedly logged.
The first issue I identified was the weak battery. The car was likely started with a jump starter, leading to frequent voltage drops and multiple errors being recorded. While diagnosing the car, I kept it connected to a power supply for programming. The battery charged up, and most of the errors disappeared, including the radar error, which began functioning properly. During this time, I turned the car off and on multiple times, conducted test drives, and within a few hours, no new errors appeared. Could the cause have been voltage drops? I’m not sure, but time will tell.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to buy a new battery today, so I’ll only do so after the New Year. However, the BSI (Body Systems Interface) retains three errors that cannot be cleared:
B117A 15 – Fault in controlling the right daytime running light
B117B 15 – Fault in controlling the left daytime running light
B1716 64 – Inconsistency between the car locking state and the locking state of the left front door lock
After several starts and stops, no new errors have appeared as long as the battery has sufficient power. However, these three errors remain, resulting in non-functional daytime running lights (the original ones in the bumper). These lights are 2-pin and work as parking lights when activated, so I rule out damage to the LEDs or the wiring. The problem lies deeper in the control system. When I set the lights to AUTO during the day, nothing lights up, but after dark, the low beams turn on.
As for the locking error, I’m not sure what its manifestation might be.
I’m uncertain whether to connect the previously occurring errors with the daytime running light issue because, at this point, I can’t be sure if the errors won’t return in a few days, even with a new battery. Does anyone have any clues or tips on how to identify the potential cause?
Attached are the historical errors recorded in the controller.
