Purchasing a citroen DS key shell

Unread post by Cazzum »

Sorry for my amount of posts today I've just got my first citroen and am new to the forum :-D

I only received one key with my DS3 but it's in poor condition and looks to be like a cheap one from aliexpress and the buttons are quite flimsy and unresponsive. I've seen that at timpsons or local key dealers I can get my key blade put into a fresh standard unbranded key shell however, I want the whole experience so wonder if anyone knows where I can order a genuine DS key shell that I can swap my key and internals into? (That isn't hundreds of pounds)

Would ebay be the best bet?

For clarity here's my key:

Here's what I've been told I can get it swapped into:

Here's what I want :rofl2:

Hi Cazzum

I've been through this recently looking for my daughter. If you buy a new key case with a blade that needs cutting, you have to be aware that there are two types. Make sure that the new key case will accept your existing key's internals. They are not all the same.

This looks much nicer than your picture, but I never did find one with the DS logo.

Hope this helps..

Hi Andy,

Do you know how I would figure out which key shell type I need?

Many of the adverts for replacement shells include pictures of the PCB, open up yours to compare the shape of the location holes and notches.

Yes agree with xantia. Pop your key apart for comparison.

This guy on Amazon makes it easy but it costs 35.00GBP. Actually that's a good deal, my mate at work just paid 185GBP for a Skoda key.

Good luck, and do let us know how you get on.

The Dealer never sold replacement remote shells so highly unlikely you will find a genuine one.

Some of the Ali express ones may come with the logo on it but many of the sellers blur or edit the badge out so they dont get grief from the manufacturers for copyright. Some descriptions will say with logo but the pic may not show it. Best to message the seller to ask if you want a logo.
