ZX TD injection pump

Post by skypilot »

My ZX TD has the Bosch injection pump. The rod with the ball joint at each end and its bracket is missing - maybe removed by a previous owner? (This is shown in the Haynes manual, page 1-18.) Does this have any effect on the fuelling? The turbo seems to work ok, it definitely kicks in around 2,200 rpm.

If its the same bit i'm thinking of (black cylinder about 5 inches long) then its the throttle damper, its there just to stop the car being too jerkey when your in slow traffic, its just a small hydraulic damper unit to slow down the movement of the throttle and i believe some cars never had them fitted

You're not missing much - the "throttle" damper is more a pain in the *** than useful. They usually wear out after about 100k klix and just cause an annoying rattle - even if you originally had one - you're better of without it.
