Actutator fluid change c4 grand picasso

Unread post by Stestrange82 »

I'm looking for the correct procedure to replace the hydraulic fluid in the actutator tank affixed to the semi automatic gearbox. I know I have to depressurise it first but I'd like to know how to completely empty so I can refill with new hydraulic fluid.

Is there any instructions for this anywhere and is there anywhere it states the amount it should have and also the amount of transmission fluid the box takes as I might change this at the same time.

The system MUST be depressurised first and then refilled to the max level as indicated on the reservoir whilst in the depressurised state. Also it requires a special fluid, so you can't add any hydraulic fluid. Provide the VIN so I can check the correct fluid type. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Hi thank you for the reply
The fluid i purchased for it is the RAVENOL GHA-F 9979.A4

Vin number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

In regards to how to empty it i have been doing it with a large syringe and melted a hole in the top where it has a debris filter to allow me to get the fluid out but I've found this isn't emptying it fully and the new fluid I put in has already turned black rather than the green colour it is when it goes in. Is there a proper way to fully empty it where I can fully drain it rather than doing it the way I'm doing it at the moment.

Thanks

It's not a simple operation and requires a proper professional level diagnostic tool like Diagbox to do.

The oil is checked using Diagbox to depressurise the system and measure the level / top up to Max level and again to repressurise the system.

When the oil is depressurised, all the oil contained in the electrohydraulic actuator unit and in the pressure accumulator returns to the piloting actuator hydraulic reservoir.

You then have to remove the piloting actuator to replace the actuator hydraulic reservoir oil. The system should be sealed - if you have made holes in the lid then you are inviting problems.
