Peugeot 508 SW 2014 Brake system Fault

Unread post by frazzlesjcd »

Yesterday had the STOP lamp illuminate alongside a message telling me there is a Brake system fault.

The Following codes were pulled using a MaxiCOM MK808BT

U1213 81 - Fault in communication with ABS or ESP ECU Communication Invalid
C1358 - Fault in electro valves supply
U1213 - No communication with ESP ECU Incorrect Value Recieved
U1802 87 - Vehicle Speed Information Fault Message Lost

Vehicle needs rear offside wheel speed sensor replacing as had a fault that's recurring with a multitude of other warning lamps.

Anyone have any idea what the root cause could be? Is it the ESP ECU gone bad? Or is tgis all stemming from the faulty ABS sensor?

From what you've said it would appear that there are 2 separate issues. the wheel speed sensor - which if faulty will disable most ESP and related functions like cruise control, hill start assist and the like, but the C1358 fault would indicate a supply problem with the ABS / ESP block itself. So all faults apart from the C1358 are likely resulting from this fault.

C1358: Front right exhaust electrovalve fault: Not characterised

Description of the diagnostics

Possibility 1
- Detection of internal faults (Overloaded) ; Under current ; Excess current ; Excessive temperature
- The time for recording the fault code is 30 milliseconds
Possibility 2
- Loss of current in the exhaust electrovalve circuit
- The time for recording the fault code is 15 milliseconds
Possibility 3
- Resistance value outside range
- The time for recording the fault code is 15 milliseconds
Possibility 4
- Short circuit between the exhaust electrovalve and the control coil of the faulty electrovalve
- The time for recording the fault code is 15 milliseconds
Possibility 5
- Exhaust electrovalve not operational
- The time for recording the fault code is 15 milliseconds

Suspect Areas:

ESP / ABS Hydraulic Block itself or the ABS / ESP ECU
