Re: Gear box oil
Most people would only change it if it has leaked or if the drive shaft has been removed such as for a clutch change removing the gear box.

Re: Gear box oil
Gearbox oil is not subject to the same stresses as engine oil. As such you don't really need to change it.
Typically, leaving the oil in the gearbox for the life of the car won't damage the gearbox.
HOWEVER, it's lubricating properties can deteriorate with time and use. This tends to manifest as a more noisy gearbox and harsher shifts. As this happens over a long period of time, most owners don't notice it.
If you change old oil for new you will notice a change in the performance of the gearbox! Not massive, but noticeable.
How often should you change it? I can't say, maybe 70,000 miles or so? But I would recommend changing it from time to time.
