Hi Forum
My 2020 Aircross’s engine has developed a problem this weekend. When accelerating and moving up through the gears it feels ‘lumpy’ - not smooth and twice the engine light has come on and it has lost acceleration/momentum and even with my foot down the engine labours. This is accompanied with a steady noise from the engine that is not unlike a vacuum cleaner which lasts for 5 minutes or so after the engine has been switched off.
I have noticed in the past on motorway journeys that when accelerating it has been similarly lumpy but never had the experience of the engine becoming asthmatic.
There is plenty of fuel in the tank.
The problem seems to clear if I restart the engine and warning lights on the dashboard.
Obviously need to book it into a garage but would appreciate any thoughts on what could be behind this.

Re: C3 Aircross Engine lumpy and losing power
I am assuming petrol EB2 engine as you haven't provided any details.
But there is a fault for sure and a code(s) will have been generated, so these need to be read for assistance with the error. The restarting of the ignition is clearing the fault code temporarily until the issue triggers the same fault code and the diagnostic again.

Re: C3 Aircross Engine lumpy and losing power
Thank you for your prompt help Marc
And apologies for the lack of detail. The model is a Petrol 1.2 Pure Tech (110bps) S&S SUV 2019MY. 1199 cc 3 cylinder Euro 6. Not sure if that confirms it as a EB2.
Either way your suggestion of getting the error code(s) read and diagnosed is the practical next step that hadn’t properly occurred to me.

Yes this will be an EB2 variant then. These need annual servicing because of the wet belt system and the correct oil grade and specification are essential to avoid / reduce belt breakup.
