polychrome vs monochrome matrix display

Hello, I am wondering what is the difference between polychrome and monochrome matrix displays? I read somewhere polychrome are just white monochrome, and someone else said they have colours but are low resolution. Could anyone help me out here?

Which vehicle is this? It would help if there was a frame of reference, but for later PSA cars, from about 2017 there were 2 versions of display on many of the vehicles, one was a monochrome white LCD display in the instrument panel and the one I have on mine was part of an upgrade pack which had the colour matrix display. That basically display speed signs and other data in colour on the display. It was part of the techno pack here and included the Heads Up Display which also outputs navigation and road signs in colour from example.
