Hello everyone,
Newbie here. Hopefully someone can assist?
My 2014 C4 Cactus Flair is playing up again! Driving along happily in cruise control on the M25 last month when the engine management light came on, and the cruise control stopped working. Arrived home and the next day the light was still on. Mentioned to the garage, as I dropped my daughter's car off for a service. They'd take a look later.
Later when I started the car, the light had gone off! Told the garage and they just said keep an eye on it. Had it serviced yesterday and they found a fault: "P 3061:00 - high number of self ignitions before spark (rumble) over the last few miles travelled- super knock" They told me it was in relation to the NOx sensor and to keep an eye on it!
In 2022 my cam belt broke up and made a huge mess of my engine. £2.5k later it was fixed by a Citroen dealership.
I had a look at another forum yesterday and it seems that this Nox issue could be another costly repair!
Is it possible that this current issue is something to do with the damage caused by the cambelt shredding in 2022?
Any advise would be great, thanks
Ange

Re: C4 Cactus Fault Code P3061:00
Hi,
This seems more related to a component called the KNOCK sensor
https://www.bosch-mobility.com/en/solut ... ck-sensor/
Which is basically a little microphone that listens to the engine for what used to be called 'pinking' , the ECU uses it to adjust ignition advance.
see for a good description
Cam belt / timing problems can cause engine 'knock' , but If the engine isn't making any pinging or rattling type sounds then it may be just the sensor has failed (they are a peizo crystal and can crack)
A few basic engine mechanical checks, spark plug condition/colouration; compression / camshaft timing (usually picked up by engine ecu, throws cam/crank synchronization ); EGR etc working correctly ; and general running of the engine should narrow it down.
Not directly related Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) sensor in the exhaust,
but exhaust or EGR problems can cause exhaust gases to contaminate the next charge of fuel/air mix,
which gives rise to a 'KNOCK' which picked up by the Piezo KNOCK sesnor.
Hope this helps

Is this a diesel or petrol engine?
Beware of code readers and web sites that give generic descriptions of fault codes, as PSA frequently used code numbers in slightly non-standard ways.

It's a petrol engine.
