Starter Motor location on C5 X7 2.0 HDI
Does anyone know where the starter motor is located on a C5 X7 2010, 2.0 HDI 140 HP? It's a left hand drive.

Re: Starter Motor location on C5 X7 2.0 HDI
So I am not quite sure if it's the starter motor. Yday when I got home, the car was starting but I could hear it struggle to turn over. Left it overnight (was 0c last night and its 3c right now) and it doesn't wanna crank anymore. When I try to start it all the screens go haywire and blinking, I get parking break faulty etc. Bad battery? It's 5 years old and some s**t brand.

Certainly sounds like a battery problem.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Yep, I think it just needs a 1/2" (??) extension bar on a ratchet. Put the square end of the bar in the plastic bit and turn it. Might want to check it's not a 3/8" drive though !
This time of year I'd definitely look at the battery condition - a lot of issues can be caused by a dodgy battery.

Ah cheers Bobins! I think it's the battery cuz when I just opened the door to get something out the car, the screens started to go haywire and everything was beeping and blinking. Anyway got a Bosch one, just need to find the extension bar.bobins wrote: 10 Dec 2024, 17:27 Yep, I think it just needs a 1/2" (??) extension bar on a ratchet. Take care turning that plastic thing - out only needs half a turn and can be stiff at first. Try turning it slowly to prevent breaking.
Also, ensure the ignition is turned off and remove key and leave for 5 minutes before disconnecting battery to prevent errors.

Will do cheers. I just disconnected the old battery. Gonna let it sit 5-10 mins then do all the work. I cannot lower the window though cuz the car is in economy mode now. Since the BSI procedure mentions that.
