Hi all,
As a new member I've been searching and reading through the many threads on this forum. As mentioned in another topic where I was looking to distinguish between the different (nav) systems (thanks @GiveMeABreak), I have an RT6 with maps from 2014.
Before I splurge €130 on maps, I wanted to be sure on the procedure, but currently not getting any wiser I'm afraid.
I see that it should be a question of getting the files onto a USB stick and putting this in the USB-port under the central armrest, and everything should work normally from there. Yet I'm also reading that a lot can go wrong (considering the many calls for help anyway).
Can somebody point me to an upgrade topic? Or give an overview of what I need to watch out for, need to do, etc. As I would like to prevent bricking my navigation system.
Also, where would be the best location to get the maps as I'm seeing links to GPSPower, peugeot.navigation.com, etc.
Apologies if these questions have already been asked and answered elsewhere. If so, please let me know where as I might have missed it in my search, or not found it yet.
Many thanks for any help and guidance
Chris

Re: Updating RT6/eMyWay maps
Hi Chris - I've moved your post to the RT6 Forum.
I think you're getting confused with Firmware updates for the Head Unit and Map Updates. These are two entirely different processes. There are no issues with updating the maps. The issues stem from the firmware updates, as the latest update to 2.86 can be fraught with issues, depending on many factors, for example the current version of firmware you are upgrading from, the electrical architecture of the vehicle (which differs between models and build dates) and the state of the Head Unit to start with (i.e. if the internal flash memory card is beginning to fail - as in end of service life, and you are experiencing glitches, restarts, odd behaviour blank screens, slow down, etc.), then it's not a good idea to update the maps or the firmware, as further 'writes' to a failing MicroSD card may only cause more data loss.
If your system is healthy and you are not experiencing any issues, then go ahead and upgrade the maps. I would not update the firmware unless you really need to - if it works, leave it.
As for mapping, I provided you with the official source for the maps. Full instructions are supplied by Citroen / Peugeot at point of sale on their website on how to upgrade the system. As for other sites, these are providing pirated copies of the software and ways to install the licences, which we will not go into on this Forum.
I hope this has answered your queries.

Re: Updating RT6/eMyWay maps
Thanks for the clarification!
I've not seen any issues yet, besides the fact that a lot of roads aren't recognized, but then I've had the car less than a month. I won't be looking to (needlessly) update my system, but will purchase the map update from Peugeot.

Clutchman, I will send you a PM shortly regarding map updates.

I can share my own copies of 2.86 with you. Do you want a CD ISO or the actual files to load onto a USB stick. I recommend the later for ease of installation.

Question has been asked here: viewtopic.php?p=824640#p824640 and an answer provided, please don't duplicate posts all over the Forum - I have therefore removed the third topic about this, thanks.
