Argh! 2015 Citroen C5 LE (150kw 2.2 litre) - ***FIXED NOW*****
Changed the fuel filter following the disconnecting battery procedure.

When going to start the car it just went dead. Now absolutely nothing works. Nothing on the dash lights up. Is there some main fuse that could be blown?

Re: C5 dead after fuel filter change
I put the battery on charge just in case it was low (unlikely as I regularly charge it and had just driven for an hour). Only took 20 minutes to top up.
This time the car reacted normally, but when it came to start, it clicked (like a stuck starter motor sound) and the whole thing went dead again (completely dead dash and no reaction to the key).

Fixed
Third time I didn't turn off the ignition before starting. Not sure if that's what did it, but what a relief. I almost gave up on ICE cars and went and bought an EV (a whole other kettle of problems I bet and stuff I can't sort).
