Abs fault

Unread post by Trainspark »

Hello im new to this site
I have a2013 ds3 my lovely wife hit a pot hole and now the car is giving esp and engine fault lights resulting in limp mode , i have reset faults in ecu and it drove 20 miles last night with no problems however this morning same fault after 50 yards the faulted five or six times on the way to work 15 minute journey i believe the esp module sits under the passenger side wheel arch could the smack on the wheel which destroyed the tyre have disloged some connections ?? Or worse buggered the unit ?

Welcome along

You need to get it on a diag computer to see what it's upset about. It may just be coincidence, engine problems lead to the ABS / ESP lights coming on.

Have a check in the engine ECU for any codes - especially EGR ones.

Low pressure fuel line and boost pressure faults only and the miscommunication with ecu/ traction control
Only other thing i can think is its really cold for the first time is it cold and fuel issue ?

might be an abs sensor. Been repairing my godmother ds4, had an esp/cruise control/hill start/ automatic handbrake and gps fault and engine mil light on at once, had a similar situation with my c4 b78 picasso

Good question serviced this year not sure filter was done , its my mrs car so can only take her word for never seeing this problem till i drove it this week
Aswell as comms fault ecu - esp im grtting low fuel pressure and low boost pressure , or are these thrown up because im in limp mode due to esp fault ? Car does stutter before i get esp fault and last night ok till i pushed power a bit

No, other way around, when the engine sets a fault code it interrupts the engine speed data to the ABS ECU which then throws its toys out of the pram. If there is no history, then chuck a new filter on it, this is often the cause of low fuel pressure when booting it if it's a bit blocked. You may have more than one issue, as the boost pressure is unrelated, but fix one thing at a time and see where it goes!

You have not said what engine you have or year but if petrol it is unlikely to have a fuel filter, I think they are only on the diesel engines.

Much more fuel is required under load than revving stationary. Chucking a new filter on it is easy and cheapish, and fixes many low pressure issues.
