I have this Peugeot Partner from 2006 where the sidemember, the sill and everything has rusted out. This not only looks horrible but also creates problems when im jacking up the car, since the jack will just crush everything that is rusted preventing me from lifting the car.
I found the parts I need to replace everything https://catalogs.ssg.asia/peugeot/?lang ... I9PQ%3D%3D
However, I cant figure out how to remove the original parts before ordering. Are these welded in place or are they secured using nuts and bolts?
I would appreciate any help

Re: Replacing sidemembers
I think you will find it is all welded together using spot welds along the seams done by robots when originally made. If you are going to cut the old parts out you will need to support the car so it does not collapse - otherwise use a car bodyshop who have the facilities and will do a proper job so the car is strong again and you are happy to be in it.

Re: Replacing sidemembers
I've never really looked at the way PSA built their body shells but did work in the weld shop at Toyota for 13 years. The shell was made in 3 areas. Underbody, Sidemembers and Roof, Cowl and Rad support. Each of the 4 bits were put together making the small sub assemblies then putting the sub assemblies together to make the 4 main parts of the shell. There are many reinforcements hidden away inside. The assemblies are generally spot welded, manually on small parts, robots on larger parts. Some mig welding was also done, generally robots. Once these 4 parts were ready they were robotically assembled and tack welded into place. The the shell went down another robot line that further spot welded the parts. Toyota sold replacement panels such as the outer skin tor the sidemember. This part was the side of the car as you see it, quarter panel, outer sill and door apertures. I've seen them leave the factory with the phosphate anti rust coat but for the like of me can't believe any were used as a complete part. The task would be mind blowing, very expensive and pretty much impossible unless you had jigs etc.
What you're suggesting is somewhat easier as it is the outer and possibly inner sill but many spot welds would need drilling out and certainly some angle grinding being careful only the take out the rotted part and not the reinforcement or neighbouring panel that you can't see.
Good luck if you have a go but if you've not done this before leave it to a body shop.
