Morning all,
I have a 2012 Citroen Relay that has had it's ECU and BSI changed in the past. The VIN in the ECU etc is different to the one on the V5. I need to get another key coded, I have Diagbox and can do that, but i need the key code. Is there anyone that can help me out with that?
Many thanks
Darren

Re: Key code
Unfortunately not here - under normal circumstances, the dealership, on production of suitable identifying documents would be able to provide this for a nominal fee, but that would only be for the VIN of the registered vehicle as per the V5. Again, normally, if either the engine ECU or the BSI was replaced, it would be configured from new and the VIN coded in when it was configured online by the dealer.
If it was possible to clone your old unit data to the replacements, I suspect this wouldn't be an issue. You may need to see a specialist to obtain the code from the BSI in order to get a new key coded.

Re: Key code
Some high-ish end code readers can extract the key code from the BSI. My Xtool D8W can for instance, although Diagbox can't. From my experience testing the extraction on our 308, it's easier if you have a working fob. It's possible without a key fob (total key loss) but that would have involved starting with the keys again and I didn't want to lose what I already had registered.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Re: Key code
First off Diagbox cant program an aftermarket key to this car, you need to use a key that has been ordered to VIN from a dealer if you want to program with Diagbox. The key on a Fiat system has to have 'pre coding' data on it, when the key is ordered to VIN it arrives with the pre coding data already on it, your second problem is even if you order a dealer key it will have the pre coding of the old BSI so wont work anyway.
To program an aftermarket key on this you need a key programmer that has a key writing aerial on it to make it into a ‘dealer’ key first before you program it.
Your best bet is to contact a local auto locksmith who will extract all the data you need from your BSI & can do the job from start to finish with an aftermarket key.
A decent key programmer will pull the PIN code from the BSI on a Fiat system in about 5 seconds even with no working key.
