Welcome along.

If you got air in the ABS module then you need a scan tool to bleed it properly.

With all bleed screws shut, does the pedal get hard after a few pumps on the brakes or no?

As Richard said you can bleed the abs pump with an obd.

yes after a few pumps the brake gets hard for about 10 seconds then straight to floor again, interesting theres no abs light on the dash either, makes me think i probs didnt need to replace the abs pump afterall. i could be worng but someone told me if i didnt leave the ignition on during the changing of the caliper then it would have messed the system up.

I do not know if it applies to your car but often if the pads/caliper are replaced on the axle with the handbrake, you should not use the handbrake until the pedal has been used to push the pistons back out.

I replaced a front caliper on our C5 (which includes the handbrake) and whilst I did not think any air got into the abs system I could not bleed it well enough to get a good pedal. I took it to the dealer to do it with a diagnostic tool, charged over £100 since it included the diagnostic but afterwards the brakes were a lot better. They tried first without the diagnostic tool but that did not made any difference.

Your advice to leave the ignition on whilst replacing a caliper does not sound right, was it a Citroen expert ?
