Android Auto Compatibility for DS 3 2018 - Seeking Advice

Unread post by Coins426uk »

Hi everyone,

I have a 2018 DS 3, and currently, it only works with Apple CarPlay. I wanted to know if there’s a way to use Android Auto instead. I noticed a "MirrorLink" icon next to Apple CarPlay, but I believe MirrorLink is outdated and may not support my Android device.

I’ve tried connecting my Android (running the latest software) via a data cable, but unfortunately, it didn’t work. Has anyone managed to get Android Auto working on a similar DS 3 model? Any tips or updates from the dealership that might help?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello
According to some forums, only some DS3 hatches had AA. IF you have the red and copper/brown theme on the screen then you could have the newer NAC system which has AA, if it's purple then no. The best way to add AA is with a piggy back system from china which plugs in between the head unit and screen.

If you have the SMEG unit then it won't have Android Auto and you'll need an aftermarket option. You can't add it to a SMEG unit.

Mirror link support ended a while ago and if you had the Mirror Link App it would continue to work - as long as you don't update your Android phone's operating system, as once you did, it will remove Mirror Link functionality.

What system exactly can i get and how do i configure this? Recently bought a ds3 and it has the purple screen on the head unit. Ive seen people mention carlinkit and ive purchased one but i cant get it to work at all. At this rate i think ill just return the car. Swapping out the head unit seems too much of a faff and theres alot to go wrong with vehicle functionality. If youve got a simple step by step solution to make it work that would be greatly appreciated. I cant seem to find anything concrete to get AA to function through this system
