Bsi reset using planet

Hi, I have a 406 Coupe that is cranking but not starting , it is showing locked on the dash , I have changed the immobiliser arial btw , after having the keys reprogrammed and no change, sent the Bsi,ecu, arial to a company for repair/ network test , and immobiliser off on the ecu , although I had read that to effect this theBsi was needed to make the hand shake but worth a try , unfortunately they were unable to communicate with the Bsi but managed to put a imm off file on the ecu , their advice was to try and find a Bsi , as the 2.2 petrol SE is getting a rare thing , it was not an easy find, but found one in the end and for an extra 60€ it was cloned to the old one , in the meantime I sorted a working version of Lexia , when I put the Bsi on the car the immobiliser is still showing on dash , I assume that it is down to the cloning ? So before I did anything else with it I put the old Bsi back on, ran a test on it looked at the multitude of faults and cleared them , ran another test and now the Bsi is showing up no faults at all , but still locked on the screen , I have reprogrammed the keys, both accepted and when left in beep when the door is open , so assume that it isn’t the key programming? As the car is in eco mode , not possible to open the driver’s door window and been in it from the start of the problem, btw the window is still dropping when opening the door , could this be down to not being able to reset Bsi properly? Leading me to ask the question has anyone used the Bsi reinitialisation option in Planet 2000 ?

I don't thing that means what it says! I suspect that may been reconfiguring the BSI, which is not what you really want to do.

3 things need to happen for the car to handshake:
The BSI, the Engine ECU and the Transponder Chips all have to talk to each other, otherwise the engine ECU will not authorise starting.

The trouble is we don't know exactly what has been done to the engine ECU concerning any immobiliser files. I can't see how the BSI can get the correct info back from the engine ECU if it is not valid with what the BSI holds when requesting it.

Thank you for the link , but as the window will not open , it’s not possible to reset the Bsi with the standard method, as for the files that were installed, apparently they were tried and tested by the firm that installed them, who have a good reputation in the UK btw ,I accept what you say about the hand shake , and realise that the origin of the problem might well have been the ecu , as I have nothing to lose , I am just hoping that someone else has tried to reinitialise their Bsi via Planet before I have to try it .

If the window will not open then leave the door open and close its lock around a screwdriver so the car thinks the door is closed.

Can you communicate with the Engine ECU with planet both before & after the immo off file was added?
Its not unusual to have an immo light on after an immo has been removed from the car, think it just depends on the car/ECU.
The only thing the BSI has to do with starting the engine is the immobiliser, so if the immo off has been done correctly the engine should still start with or without the BSI.
What is the history of the fault? did it cut out whilst driving? Did the fault appear after any work been done on the car?

Hi , yes will have a look at the door lock route tomorrow thanks, we came back from a long trip to find the battery completely dead, as I had left the alarm on thought that is must have drained it ? Put a new battery on and all was good, a few weeks after as I was getting it out the garage , got a pollution error message on the screen, after driving it a short distance it cut out , but restarted then cut out again , after the fifth time it has not restarted again? As for the planet , the first time it was run it showed transponder identifier not received and no communication with the ecu along with a lot of other issues but no idea how long they had been on there as I didnt have planet from the start of this , it was only when I put the second one on I realised all the faults on the original were on the second, so put the original one back one on and cleared the faults and then got the only fault on the Bsi as transponder identifier not received and intermittent fault cylinder ref sensor/ throttle position sensor/ on the ecu , I have changed and checked continuity to the ecu and checked to ground three sensors, crankcase , cylinder ref , and map but found nothing there amiss?

When turning it over on the starter are you getting the rpm being shown on the dash or on your code reader live data ? If not it might suggest the crank shaft sensor is faulty. If this is faulty the engine will turn over but not start.

Hi , think I am finally getting somewhere , where I am not sure but when I tested the ecu this morning it is now showing a permanent fault on the cylinder ref sensor I looked at the live results and the crank sensor is registering rpm so went back to the multimeter and found no continuity on ZC1 on the ecu to the map sensor which is the neg , no idea why I missed that the first time around, age probably , as I can see on the live data that the ecu is locked could this be due to the fault rather than the immobiliser?
