Xantia Vibration

Hello just bought myself a 96' Xantia Estate LX lovely big car but despite balancing the wheels, pressures checked, etc I am getting a constant rhythmical vibration from 60mph upward until well over the speed limit (it shakes and goes shakes and goes in about 5 second bursts)any others with similar experience?
Also if I push/pull the back wheels a minute amount of play can be felt - is this normal for the type of suspension or possibly related. and the brake pressure builds and falls with constant pressure but I guess thats a sphere.

Your vibration sounds like the latest technology in the new C4.[8D][8D]
Is it the steering wheel that vibrates?
If so probably needs rebalance with wheels on car.
If the whole car vibrates at speed then the possiblities open up to
Engine misfire
Engine itself out of balance (main bearings/crank pulley/flywheel loose
Gearbox
Driveshafts
Exhaust loose
Even the battery could be loose!!
Try to determine whether it's road or engine speed related?
