Citroën C5X Wifi

Unread post by bikergsx »

Hello,
I’ve a peculiarity with my wifi on my C5X Hybrid Shine Plus.
I can successfully connect the C5X to my home wifi. However, when I go to
<navigation>
<settings>
<map & display>
<downloaded maps>
<europe>
then click on a country to update it, I get the message “You can only manage maps over wi-fi”.
Thing is, I am connected to wi-fi. Even stranger still, if I use my iphone as a hotspot and connect my C5X to my iphone hotspot, I can download the maps.
Hmmmmm… I’m intrigued..! 🤔
Has anybody else encountered this or do you have any ideas as what’s happening and how to fix it? My system version is NHW.1.20.93.7

Many thanks in advance.
Best regards
Rob (from the UK). 😊

Do you have passwords on both your home Wi-Fi and hotspot?

Hi

I think you're misunderstanding the system and the terms (easy to do, I know). I'll need your VIN to double check the system you have, but the WiFi functionality is only for allowing you to create a hotspot around the vehicle for passengers to connect to. So the WiFi from your Smartphone is used to connect to the vehicle, and in turn, the vehicle uses this source as the WiFi source and creates a hub for the passengers to connect their devices to. It is not intended for connecting to for downloading maps or firmware - there is no need for this.

The MyDrive Plus system uses OTA (Over The Air) updates to update the infotainment system automatically and needs no intervention, so no downloading of files onto USBs by the owner.

When an update is available, the vehicle will notify you on screen. It takes about 8 minutes and you cannot use the vehicle during this time. Once you proceed, the update will download from PSA servers and the built in telematic unit's secure connection. The systems may restart several times, but wait after it has fully completed for about 4 minutes for it to reinitialise the systems and then you can drive the vehicle.

In fact, I strongly suggest you do not attempt to update any elements of the system via a different WiFi connection, as this could cause problems.
