ADBlue warning light

Unread post by brian1956 »

On a C3 Picasso 2016 with the 1.6 BlueHDI is the Urea warning light supposed to come on and go off on start with the rest of the warning lights. I cannot see this light at all when start and I am wondering if the car has had an adblue delete

Hi. No, it's not supposed to come on unless there's a reason and the if there is a reason, the nature of the warning indicator, (flashing, solid with other messages etc.) can all be found in your owner's manual as to the meaning.

Thanks. I know "when" it's supposed to come on and why. The question is this: when you turn on the ignition there is a self test of the warning lights where they come on briefly then go off again. The UREA warning light does not come on with the others, is that normal? Anyone with a bluehdi C3 picasso can you turn on your ignition and tell me if the UREA light self tests?

I thought that was clear, but no, the Adblue warning doesn't come on at ignition.

Further, when you've been for a run, stop the car and get out quickly, approach the rear and you should hear the adblue pump whirring as it sucks back the urea into the tank.

Just to add to this for anyone with the same question. A Citroen tech said you should stick your finger in the exhaust and rub it around the inside edge and if it comes out clean then the SCR system is working. :)

Surely that should be - the DPF is working?

Indeed, the SCR system has nothing to do with soot, so he means DPF. The SCR converts NOx into water and nitrogen.
