5008 MK1 Keys

Unread post by amazighman »

Good Evening .

My recently acquired Peugeot 5008 MK1 Has had the ignition
switch replaced few years ago . As a result it has two keys , one Fob/ Blade to start the car ( immobiliser key) and one Fob/blade to open the doors .

The previous owner told me that their mechanic replaced the ignition switch and barrel for a second hand one with its key and has made a mess out of it.

Would it be best to get a second hand ingnition barrel with keys and door locks ?
My plan is to transplant the electronics from the old working immobilizer key onto the new donor key .

Any thoughts

I managed to get the immobiliser key to open and close door remotely ,but after locking the car , 10 min later the alarm goes off ,it does that with the door key as well..
Seems like a software issue some people said

It's hard to provide any advice here as we really don't know exactly what has been done.

Fobs and 'fobless' keys have transponder chips in that have to be paired to the BSI and Engine ECU to work. The fobs have additional electronics to provide the remote locking and third button functions. So if the replacement fob is of the incorrect type (different frequency and waveform) it won't be compatible with the remote functions.

The ignition barrel is only a physical lock for the physical key and does nothing else. There is however a transponder coil contained as part of the unit that energises the transponder chip in the key for handshaking to authorise starting.

The alarm may be a separate issue, but without a diagnostic report, it will be hard to understand exactly what's wrong.

Thanks a lot.
I think the locks issue can be sorted with a new setof locks and barrel so everything is matching.
The blade from the salvage locks can be attached to the existing immobiliser key , so at least then one key opens everything .

I believe something is wrong with the alarm system , I managed to synchronize the immobiliser keyfob , so it now opens door remotely , however ,its still sets off the alarm after about 10 min... Same as the old original key

I checked the bonnet switch and it seems to be attached properly not broken like they usually do , pushes in as it should.

I disabled the ultrasonic cabin alarm sensors and locked the car , still alarm went off.

To disable the alarm, lock the vehicle using the key not the remote and that should disable alarm activation.

If it still goes off, then threes likely a fault with the siren module.

Locking with the key blade does not trigger the alarm fault , only locking with the fob...

That's what I said. Lock with the key to disable the alarm activation.

You have a problem with the alarm system - most likely the siren module battery is end of life, so without power it's like the circuit being cut, which trips the siren. How old is the vehicle?
