Hello
I'm starting to hear noise from my camshaft timing chain. Soon I will need to do the job of upgrading to the 8mm pitch chain and on this occasion I will fit a new timing kit and waterpump.
But my question is how do I lock the crankshaft on this engine with the EAT8 automatic transmission?
Until now I've only had cars with manual transmission and on these there's typically a hole in the bell housing where I could lock the flywheel.
Best regards

Before you do the job yourself I would ask your Citroen dealer to see if Citroen will do the job at no charge to you since this is a known problem. It needs more than just a chain since it also needs new cam shafts and many other parts. Hopefully you have been getting your dealer to do the servicing.

I have changed the oil myself and I don't think that the dealer will accept that. But I'll try to ask them. Yes, I was quoted by the dealer for a kit including a rocker cover, intake and exhaust camshafts, 8mm chain and tensioner. The part number was 16 381 598 80.

Do anybody know how to lock the flexplate? Is it okay to put the car in park and remove the crankshaft bolt with the parking prawl engaged?

I would look for a hole in the block at the flywheel end, probably a similar casting to earlier versions

I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a hole in the flexplate, same as there is in the manual flywheel, to allow crank locking for pulley bolt (pin through the engine plate above the exhaust). Note this is not the timing pin, that is behind the crank pulley at a different crank rotation.

Yeah I will give it a look when I'm doing the work. Otherwise I'll use a pulley holder as plan B.
