Coolant leak on my Citroen C4 2005

Unread post by Passanger5555 »

Hello guys!

I am having this issue since i have bought this car some 20k km before and i just cant fix it.
I have recently replaced the thermostat housing and the coolant radiator and a few other minor things related to this issue and it still doesnt stop.

Shortly before the thermostat housing failed i used a fluorescent dye to identify the leak and now i have used it again (the green thingy that glows is teh water leak) but i feel like it is kinda damaging the coolant system.

The bottom of engine is also covered in oil a lot.

Im not sure if it can be a failed head gasket (from coolant passage to outside and oil passage to outside) because the oil and water does not mix and i also do not have signs the coolant might be getting into the combustion chamber.
Regarding the temperature its almost ok expect in heavy traffic where it goes 4 bars and after fan working for like 30 seconds it goes back at 3.

Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks!

Why don't you try a radiator sealant?
Once we put some in a old corsa that mixed oil and water and imagine after a few weeks it stopped...!
Also the c5 2.0 hdi was leaking from the thermostat housing. We put another sealant first with no results. Just before swaping thermostat housing decided to try once again with the sealant. Then we put wurth liquid in a bottle and within a two or thre months it stopped completely. And radiator or hose clamps leakong helped many times.

I have used a product like that before the thermostat housing blew and i feel like it didnt work that well perhaps even made things worse as i had to replace the radiator some time ago

I've heard of bad experiences like passinger 5555 said using some no name powder sealant (radiator clogging). I used only liqid sealant from Wurth strictly following manufacturer's instructions. My c5 runs fine (this summer on crete and peloponese on more than 40 celsius) without adding any antifreeze in the bottle, like i was doing before.
