Peugeot 3008 2019 multimedia sound issue

Unread post by TeodorM »

Hello all,
I got a Peugeot 3008 GT 2019 2.0BlueHdi few months ago. It's equipped with Focal multimedia. I noticed an issue with the multimedia sound- it very often disappears(radio, parking sensors, telephone
etc., all the sound ) when ignition is switched on. It does it randomly no matter if it's first start or any other. After switching off the car and leave it for a few minutes on the next start sound comes back. I have checked online for similar faults and it turns out that this is common issue with Focal HiFi. People are saying it's connected with the amplifier which does quick check on the speakers at start and if one is faulty (or no continuity on speakers), it stops all the sound for safety reason.
Solution is firmware update by Dealer or DIY -connect the Diagbox, check which speaker is faulty in fault log and try sort any loose connections to speaker or check it for damage.
In my Diagbox the only fault I have connected to amplifier is "FEFB fault-voltage outside limit not characterised "(see attached photos for details).
Anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what that fault refers to? I noticed that battery voltage is around 11.6V when fault comes. Is that a normal voltage or it's a bit low and maybe that is the reason for the fault?
Battery SoH and SoC are around 60% and maybe it is going to end of its life.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Battery does seem low from what you have said. If it's 5 years or older, time for a change.

I will give it a charge first and see how it goes. If it is still the same, will go for new one.
Thanks

Remember, it's not the charge so much, as the battery's ability to HOLD that charge. As a battery ages, it looses capacity, so won't have the ability to to do everything demanded of it.

I think I have found the trouble maker. It was rear right tweeter triggering the fault. I got it when during the "silence " I connected Diagbox and the fault came out.

Ok, so from your VIN you have Connected Nav (NAC) with the 12 Channel Amp system. Unfortunately these types of intermittent issues are hard to pin down unless you have the diagnostic attached when it's happening. However for future reference, you can test the system using Diagbox.

All you have to do is go into the Live data section of the Digital Connected Navigation ECU after doing a global test. Select the Connected NAV / NAC ECU from the list, confirm option to go into sub-menus. Then look for live data or Parameters and using these you can perform certain tests on the system - from the button activation checks to the volume - I'm sure there's also an output test. You may have to try and see if the equaliser amplifier ECU comes up int he detected ECUs list and try the same on that.
