407 2.2 petrol cam sensor voltage question

Unread post by Flyingkarl »

Hello everyone !

I havre a 2004 Peugeot 407SW with a 2.2 petrol and 6 speed manual transmission.

The problem I have is a intermittent, although it is now a permanent long cranking start issue. I get a cam sensor code P0341 when I have the no start issue.
testing the input to the sensor I discovered something very strange, I have my 5 volt reference across the two outer plug pins, Here is the strange part. I have 10 volts on the center signal wire. This is with the sensor unplugged.

I have the wiring diagram, but I cannot find the cam sensor wires on the two 36 pin ECU connectors. My schematic says B1, B2 and B3 are the cam sensor wire locations, But I do not have continuity at those pins, and one of the wires is the wrong color. I am trying to get a second ECU diagram to compare pin locations.

A side note with the sensor unplugged the car starts much better.

Cheers Carl

Update....

I used a signal generator on the wires for the cam position sensor and the signal is reaching the correct pins on the connector, But here is the crazy part. I can not measure the resistance from the cam sensor plug to the ECU plug. It's open circuit.

The other crazy thing is the signal generator signal was also going to the throttle body and a few other places.

Does anyone know of any trouble areas on the engine harness ? Nothing visible but looks like Saturday I am pulling the harness off and looking for a short somewhere.

The P0341 error indicates that there is a problem with the camshaft sensor. It would be best to replace it with a new original one. It is not very expensive and it is easy to change. Only if that does not give results, then the wires should be checked. It is strange to me that it can start without that sensor.
