Hi all, my 3008 1.6 hdi (9HR) died on me a couple of weeks ago coming home from shopping, at first, warning "Battery Charge Fault" came up as I parked in store car park. Checked alternator belt 'ok', Started her back up and no fault. As I pulled out of car park onto duel carriage way dash lights lit up and engine died, engine started back up before car stopped so I made it around the roundabout I was on and then it did it again, same thing twice more until I was home (thankfully no need to brake on way!).Went to try to restart and got "click" and same warning.
Checked battery=11.6v (pics). Charged overnight refit, started fine. Checked voltage whilst running and got 11.6v then the engine cut out, checked in-car and "Battery Charge Fault" warning was back.
Battery showing 12.4v when not running. After looking at numerous posts I have ordered a alternator. I have also tried the mod of bridging the "BPGA" as shown in attached pics, as shown there was no change in voltage.
Going to have a go at replacing alternator today, battery been on charge overnight and fitted new BPGA (do I need to config new BPGA in Diagbox ?). Would it be a good idea to order a new negative lead "Battery State of Charge" unit? I have had my one off whilst cleaning all battery connections, copied part number (9676592080,pic attached) but I can only find "used" ones and new ones that do not have same part number. If anyone has a replacement/alternative part number suitable it would be appreciated.
