I'm interested in others' views and experiences of the C3 Picasso...I nearly purchased one example recently, and still haven't completely moved away from the idea.
I am a Xsara Pic owner, and the C3 picasso seems at least superficially similar. When I test drove the example, a 2010 1.6HDi 110bhp, I initially liked the seating, vantage point and dashboard setup and design. However, I later watched an old YT reviewer mentioning that the seats are not comfortable enough for long journeys.
In the end though, I decided against buying as the clutch felt as though there was unevenness in the travel of the pedal, so perhaps needed a replacement soon.
The engine seemed very capable indeed, and quieter than the HDi sounds in the cab of a Xsara.
The motivation for buying would be an example that had cruise control and working A/C, my Xsara, though being in very good mechanical condition, having neither of these.
I am still holding out for a 110bhp Xsara Picasso with cruise, alas when these cars come up they often have a history of oil leaks or body corrosion.
I am surprised that the C3 Picasso I turned down hasn't sold, as I thought these cars were popular.
I noticed that the 'Real mpg' figures for this model are not as brilliant as some.
Also, I haven't been able to ascertain if any or all HDi models even before 2011 have a DPF?

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
I have a C3 Picasso, the 1.6 Blue HDi, and absolutely love it I bought it as I needed a small van with car features to transport bikes, running gear, grandchildren and much else a small van would normally do and it does these roles superbly...
The full rear seats, apart from the small one for the child seat, have never been up in my ownership!
The only thing I don't like is the digital speedo...
I think you'll find it a very agreeable vehicle.

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
I got my 2010 HDI Exclusive 110 in January with 1280000 miles, some history, I replaced discs/pads all round, all filters and a cambelt kit, it starts and drives very well, almost everything works, no sign of corrosion worth worrying about, it pulls more strongly then an older HDI 90 that I drove, I find it very quiet, comfortable, the upright seating position gives great visibility though perhaps not as all day comfortable as a Xantia, fuel is currently at 46 mpg though far better on a run, I am enjoying it,
BXs since 1993 built 1.9 TZD turbo, got a S2 Xantia estate, brilliant car! 2013, Xantia HDI LX 110 2000 new car with 122,000, l C2 HDI Rusty rocket, C3 Picasso HDI new to me.

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
I love the upright, high driving position Stewart and find I can drive long distances without any issues at all, as you say, not quite Xantia but it works for me... Also, if I've just completed a long run and my legs are a bit iffy, I find it very easy to slide in and out of...
I've been known, after running a marathon, to be trapped in an AX because my legs have gone on strike. I can slither like a snake out of the Picasso!

I had to fall out of my Accord. The Civic wasn't much better and neither is the Mazda.

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
Yes, the DV6TED4 110 version was produced with and without a particle filter, but realistically here in the UK I haven't come across one here on the forum as yet.
1.6 HDi Xsara Picasso models without a particle filter should have an 'SF' designation after the VIN.
Most of these most likely came in at the later end of production, just before the change to the C4 Picasso 110 which did have a particle filter.

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
OK can anyone advise on a related question...
My Xsara has failed its MOT and the garage advise that repair is most likely uneconomical:(
Would people say that the C3 picasso is a better built car than the Xsara if both are driven in reasonable environments? I'm wondering if maintenance costs could be lower on average.
The Xsara to be fair did 13000 miles in a year and was driven on many poor country roads..

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
Only you can decide this, but I suggest you locate one with the desired engine and take it for a spin to see if you like it. Maintenance is annual now in any case (officially) for all later PSA cars and likely this one too, but like all the 1.6 HDi engines, regular oil maintenance is your best friend, but won't be an issue if you have it serviced annually in any case unless you are doing 'Earth to the Moon' miles.

Re: C3 Picasso HDi vs. Xsara Picasso
Thanks Marc.
In the end, I found a '55 plate Xsara Picasso, 110bhp (with cruise )
As anticipated, there are issues - the most striking is slightly intermittent power at high revs, especially at high speeds.
The car needs a new timing belt.
I forsee that I'll be spending more down the line, but reasonably happy for now.
