Can anyone tell me the difference between the DV5RC and DV5RD engines?
My van had a DV5RD engine which has suffered the dreaded catastrophic engine failure and needs replaced.
I have found a used DV5RC engine with low miles.
Is this engine compatible and can be used in place of the DV5RD?
Thanks in advance

Re: DV5RC and DV5RD engine differences?
I don't think so, as the DV5RC is a more powerful engine (130 PS) with the DV5RD being 102 PS. so that's 128 HP v 101 HP. So this may mean other differences to the vehicle's equipment and fittings, engine ECU configuration, and other components, not to mention registering a different engine / tax and insurance....

I also saw the specifications and differences between these 2 engines where the DV5RC is 130 PS. But my C3 is with the DV5RCF engine and has 102 PS.

Re: DV5RC and DV5RD engine differences?
I've done a bit of research now and it seems the parts are common and shared between the 2 engines. Cylinder head and camshafts are the same in both and interchangeable. Same timing belt and cam chain kit. Both are also the same compression.
I'm beginning to think the only difference is the power output and I believe this will just be software related.
I was planning on using the original DV5RD ecu so the engine would still only produce the 102ps

Less hassle administratively-wise - if you can replace like for like.

Did you fit the different code engine? If so what parts did you have to swap over?

Did it run ok before the rebuild, is the engine turning over on the starter, have you rechecked the timing, is the key being recognised by the immobiliser - leave the key in the ignition and open the driver's door, you should get a warning message but if not the key might not be being recognised.
If your code reader does live data you need to check all the sensors are giving correct values such as fuel pressure.
