2012 DS4 with Denon System - No Sound After Head Unit Replacement

Unread post by ibrahimknk »

Hello everyone,

I own a 2012 Citroën DS4 equipped with the Denon sound system. I recently replaced the original head unit with a new multimedia system that has a touchscreen. It worked fine for a while, but then I started experiencing issues where there was no sound at all.

I took the car to a service center, where they found that two of the speakers were blown. I replaced those speakers, and now all the speakers are in good condition. However, I still don't have any sound, and I suspect that the amplifier is not receiving power.

I checked the voltage at the amplifier using a multimeter, and it shows 0 volts. Could you please advise on what I should check next to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in advance!

You can't just change the Head Unit and expect it to work - you did have a RD5 factory-fitted system with Equaliser Amplifier option, so the BSI and the original unit was configured for your factory fitted system with Amplifier. If you have fitted a different head unit it may not be compatible and / or configured correctly.

More importantly though your vehicle has an after-sales campaign required to replace potentially faulty airbags! This warning has been released 11/09/2024, so I would contact your dealer as soon as possible as they require replacing. The work will be free of charge, but I would not wait, as these may be the ones that can cause damage or trigger randomly. Quote your Registration or VIN and reference JGU (JGU - C3 (A51), DS3, C4, DS4, DS5 - Airbag).

Thank you. But when I plug in the original head unit, I can't hear any sound anymore. When I connect the amplifier, I hear a clicking sound and the amplifier does not turn on. do you have any idea?

It may have blown - can't say, especially if it has been incorrectly connected up. The amps are designed for specific units and specific speaker outputs. If the amp is not designed to take 'speaker level' outputs, it will need a line out converter. I can't advise of course, because I don't know what you have fitted and whether the amp is correct for this touchscreen unit you have installed.

Hello. I did a conversion of the head unit in my missus 308cc with JBL and my friend ds4 (regular). With Ds or Peugeot you have to connect proper canbus module and configure it. I am assuming that is not an android (or other Chinese stuff). Still though you have to install proper module to get steering wheel buttons and parking sensors. In French cars amp is trigged by Can, not by low or high voltage. Sometimes if you want to put back old unit you have to configure or delete fault code from radio/multimedia on DiagBox
