Ds3 1.6 ehdi not starting, just clicking noise

Morning all.

Any ideas? Was working fine then went to start it one morning, ignition on but it just clicks away, battery seems OK as I put a volt meter on it and it shows 12.5 volts.

Any ideas?

What sort of clicking? What does the voltage do if you measure it when you try and crank it?

The starter on the 1.6 is buried down the back of the engine / gearbox and is a bear to get to / change....

Clicking is a constant rapid tick tick tick noise.

I'll just update this now, I've since managed to get it started by jump starting using another car, odd that as the battery was showing over 12v although I couldn't test it whilst cranking it..

Correct, battery is goosed and I never knew stop/start batteries were so expensive!
