Ds5 wipers

Unread post by Philbin »

Hi help needed bought a 2013 ds5 2.0lt passed it's test last week, last Thursday the windscreen wipers stopped working also the washers the rear wiper still works,
Checked all the fuses under the bonnet all OK, was checking the motors and noticed passenger side had been rubbing on the suspension top mount and worn through the connector, so I sourced two second hand motors which came off the same car and was assured working, but no joy I don't want to keep buying parts I did get a code U1f3A 87 no communication but cannot find what the 87 means, Anyone any ideas before I hand it to an auto electrician, thanks in advance

Fault Code: U1F3A 87
Description of Fault:
  • Fault: absence of communication with the windscreen wiper motor(s). Absence of communication for between 1,6 s and 2,4 s.
Conditions for Fault to clear:
    • Return of communication for between 1,6 s and 2,4 s
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Built-in systems interface: Return of the windscreen wipers to motor park.
  • Wipers: Intermittent wiping with timing of 4,5 seconds
Symptoms:
  • Activation of intermittent wipe (4,5 seconds) with no customer action
  • Non-stopping of wipe
  • No automatic wipe
Suspect Areas:
  • Supply of the windscreen wiper motors
  • LIN
  • Windscreen wiper motors
So this is a BSI fault code and it means it's not getting any communication with the motors - it may not be a motor issue, but a data network issue on the LIN network or power supply.

I was thinking because the connector on the left hand motor which I believe is the main motor has been rubbing through to the to a metal pin white wire which i think is live, I am assuming it has been shorting out on the suspension, the fuse was not blown but maybe the relay which i believe are sealed in the fuse box under the bonnet may have been damaged, maybe just let an auto electrician sort it, thanks for helping
