Door mirrors

Just bought a 2014 3008. The door mirrors never folded when locking. The other day was adjusting mirrors when noticed when adjuster is set in the middle and pulled back both mirrors twitch as though trying to fold. Also this happens when locking and unlocking. This affects both door mirrors. Question is have they been deactivated or have both motors gone ( seems strange both going together) . You hear the motors as though engaging aswell.

I would have thought that if they have been deactivated then they wouldn't move at all, not even "twitch". So I think you can assume that both motors/mechanisms are jammed.

I can't see this being the case if it's affecting both mirrors - highly unlikely these will both go at the same time. If you have electric fold back fitted, then there's likely to be another issue, like the wiring at the driver's door aperture.

This is the weak spot from the door constantly being opened and closed and often causes a break / short to one of the mirror functions and as the driver's side controls the passenger side that could be why they are both not working.

The other culprit is the driver's door control pad itself - or more specifically the wiring connector blocks underneath. Door closing / slamming can cause these to work loose. Ask me how I know. Taking the door card off and checking that the connectors are secure can fix this - assuming this is the issue.
