DS3 2014 Heater Blower Flaps motor Removal

Unread post by toolmaker25 »

Hi,

I've recently acquired a DS3.
The air vents only blow slightly warm air when set to Lo.
I had the Thermostat changed under warranty as this was failing.
I hoped this would correct the lack of un-heated air but no.
I'm guessing that the hot/cold flap is not closing fully?
could anyone suggest if this is the case or if anything else could be the problem?
Is it possible to change the motor/ flap assembly on the matrix without removing the matrix itself?

I'm hoping this can be done all inside the cabin without dropping the coolant.

Thanks for any pointers!

Have you checked the A/C refrigerant level? That should be your first port of call. Low or no gas will disable the A/C compressor to prevent damage.

Thanks for the reply,

The air con makes a whining noise at low speeds and needs a gas, however this is occurring when the air con is off, the cold fresh air that should be coming straight in is always slightly warmed up.

The part I’m curious about is part A in this diagram inside the link. It appears to screw on the to drivers side of the heater matrix under the dash. I’m hoping I can remove and check its function without much of a strip down incase I’m wrong.

I think you are on the wrong path here. Of course with low gas the A/C will not work and any air entering the system is therefore going to be warmed up by the engine coolant as it passes through the system. Without the gas in the system to cool the air this is what will happen.

You need to start with the basics and get the A/C system serviced (checked for leaks, pressure tested and refilled), before wasting time elsewhere.
