Retrofit camera? C4 Grand Spacetourer

Unread post by csjjpm »

Hi,
I am new here so hello everyone. I haven't got it yet but collecting a used Spacetourer on Friday to carry my tribe.

It is a BlueHDI 130 FEEL so has the fancy car system but doesn't have a reversing camera just the beeping noises.

I've seen cameras for this model online (ebay etc) and was wondering if all the wiring is already there and whether if I plug one it will the console just recognise it and turn it on when reversing?

Thanks
Paul

Not really, doesn't quite work like this and depends on your options and equipment. You need the wiring harness to be there, plus the correct Head unit and touchscreen that both supports it and is then configured for these functions and of curse a parking assistance ECU that also supports it.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

When I looked into a rear view camera for our 308 using OE parts wasn't possible because, I think, it would have required changing the ECU as well (or something like that). And anyway, the required wiring wasn't there either.

What I did find that there was an aftermarket alternative that bypassed the problem and fed into the standard SMEG+ display. Maybe one is available for your car? Not cheap though.
