Citroen c5 x7 tourer rear side light not going off
Hi all, I am having problems with the rear side lights. They won't go off on the right hand side. I thought it was the brake lights originally but it's side lights

Have you changed any exterior bulbs for LEDs?

If you have, these can affect the supply and the power-pull on the circuit causing them to exhibit erratic behaviour.
Apart from the legality of replacing exterior halogen bulbs with LEDs, it can cause lights to stay on for some time after the engine has been switched off, cause flashing / blinking and could get you in hot water with the fuzz.
The only exterior bulbs I ever replaced with LEDs were limited to the reversing lights and the number plate lights (and my DRLs which were perfectly fine as these went off at night in any case, and my adaptive cornering lighting - but these only came on at bends, but needed resistor packs in any case for the same reason you are having.

Re: Citroen c5 x7 tourer rear side light not going off
These are only rear side lights they come on at night for some reason. They're not on during the day. I get what you are saying though my headlights are halogen unchanged and like you DRLs. I did change rear lights for LEDs so maybe it's the particular bulbs that are the problem. Thanks Marc,as always very helpful insight.

That's what they're designed to do - they're tail lights that only come on when the main headlamps are on.
I had Bi-Directional Xenons at the front which have a different array of bulbs and cornering lighting that your version, but as for the rear, this will be the reason for the behaviour and will flag errors in the lighting circuit in the BSI no doubt.
Some places like Hafrauds do a halogen upgrade bulb for various lights - which are still road legal, but give a better, output.

Ok thanks Marc, I'll look into it and see if I can find bulbs that are suitable.

Hi Marc!GiveMeABreak wrote: 04 Sep 2024, 22:04 The only exterior bulbs I ever replaced with LEDs were limited to the reversing lights and the number plate lights ....
I wonder what LEDs you put as reversing light?
Standard H21W bulb burnt out in my C5 X7 and I was thinking of putting LED there.
Do they give more light? The standard is so poor...
And do they casue any errors?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Citroen c5 x7 tourer rear side light not going off
Hi, I must admit these were difficult, as the H21W are really poor and not very common bulbs, which made getting an LED replacement a challenge. I did have several challenges as at least a few types I tried caused errors on the lighting circuit and recorded in the BSI as faults constantly.
I also had issue with flashing on one type, as was reported to me by drivers behind me - so it was trial and error.
The issue is finding a CAN BUS error-free type that is not too big to go into the housing. I can't advise you on the ones I finally used, as I had at least 3 types and these were years ago so I don't have the order info now.

Re: Citroen c5 x7 tourer rear side light not going off
Thx Marc for the prompt reply.
I have already done some search on my local sale portal. And as you said, there are some bulbs with CAN BUS, but even though, some of the buyers claim in the opinions that the bulbs cause errors.
Maybe I will try some.
BTW, the bulb is burnt out but I do not have any warning about this. Is it normal?
Best

Yes, there isn't a bulb-out warning for these.
