Berlingo 64 reg Sporadic Limp Home

Unread post by Doo »

Hi all, Mark I think I may need your help?

A local came to me for help with a Berlingo (I have the reg number) 1560cc 134g/km co2. I could likely get the VIN, but as yet don't have it.

It belonged to the chaps uncle who didn't drive it much. Anyway, it performs well around town & short journeys, but twice now, it has gone into limp mode.

They got it interrogated at a local garage and the chap said he doesn't deal with French cars.... So they came to me and I interrogated it. I deleted the codes, but I remember something about the injectors. That was 19th July. I found open circuits at brake & tail lights, so changed them, but all else was great. Codes stayed away until today. He was doing a 25 mile journey & it's limping again.

No smoke or other related issues, just limping and I need to get it back in to interrogate it again.

So with such poor information, what is the possible likely hood of this issue being caused by either open or short circuit to the injectors (I checked the wires & plugs last time & found NO fault) or could it be a CAN bus related issue that the Lingo is prone to?

Of course I will get more info once I see the car & interrogate it again. Just any heads up would be great. It's frustrating that it takes weeks or months to appear, but only with a long high speed (60mph or 70mph depending on which part of the A9 is single or dual  ). I know it's not much to go on, but you're the chap in the know :)

Thank you.

This version of the DV6 is prone to injector failure so it could be that, and currently only showing up when it gets hot. If it's a low fuel pressure code it's probably the fuel filter and only shows up when it's given some beans!

Hi folks, gentleman is here with the car and it is showing P0265 Injector 2 - Circuit short between two wires. I can imagine it's going to be a bit of a dig to see where the short is. But, I have heard of French cars and bulkheads, but not on the Lingo....

So, it is also affecting the ABS circuit and I do recall hearing about this before on this engine. Any ideas?

Thanks.

It'll be the injector, note No 1 is at the gearbox end. The ABS is a red herring - when the engine light comes on it interrupts the engine signal to the ABS ECU and it throws a paddy! Identical fault and repair here:

I know about le Frunche nombre une at ze box....ha ha ha, My French is merde :rofl2:

I have stripped the air intake etc and got to the wiring and it's immaculate, not a peep of damage, so I said the the chap that I think it may be the injector itself....

So if you're certain, I'm with you. It makes sense as it only does it on a long run.

I tried to communicate with the fuel system but it didn't want to play. Is there any checks I can carry out myself before I call Darwin Diesels?

Thanks again for your help. I like to just get a second opinion.

You could try swapping two injectors and see if the fault follows it.

Of course, but I am doubtful I can pull the injector going back to my wife"s C4 :?
