Problems with sending "Private messages"

I tried to message a forum member earlier (lunchtime), and it made it as far as my Outbox.....where it's sat ever since. My message did contain a link to an image on my Google Drive, so I wondered if that might have a bearing. I decided I'd message Steve (Myglaren) to ask.......and whilst *that* message is not in my Outbox, it's not in my "Sent messages" either

Anyone else experiencing issues? I suspect not, else I'd have seen a post about it, I guess.

If it's sitting in your outbox it means that the member hasn't read your message. When (if!) he reads it the message will move to the Sent box.

Unfortunately you can't force someone to read a message and if they've missed the email informing them of the message they might not even know it exists.

I actually have 6 messages in my Outbox. The youngest is from March this year and the oldest is from March 2018!

This is the way the Forum messaging system works - not the same as an email system.

So at least you know the message hasn't been read if it's still in the Outbox. Not all members frequent the forum as often as others, so may take a while for them to pick it up.

As long as a member has enabled the option, you may be able to contact them via email - just choose the envelope icon in the contact speech bubble to the left in the profile window <<<<<.

I missed this bit, sorry. Check your PM Drafts folder and if it's not there then it's lost

Was the message that's sitting in your Outbox to Steve (Myglaren) as well? No need to disclose who the member is, just a yes or no.

Can I suggest you send Steve another test message? And me if you like.

It's all sorted now. It was simply a matter that the recipient hadn't read it.......although the message I sent to Steve seems to have disappeared into the ether (not in Drafts, not in Outbox, and Steve never received it). I've since sent a test email to Steve, and he's responded......so all is now well

It's all to easy to accidentally cancel or delete a message instead of sending it. I've done it myself and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Hi Justin,
One other thing to bear in mind when sending PMs is that you must put a subject in or the system will not send the message. Just a thought!!

I have the opposite problem........I can't see where I need to click, to cancel the PM

I just click away to somewhere else
