C4 Fan Relay
Hi Richard, just been looking at the car & it would seem to be impossible to access the relay and hence the wiring connectors without removing the front of the body! Is there any other way of powering up the fan? I assume that there is an engine temp sensor somewhere which presumably would be connected to the fan motor, so could it be powered up from that wiring plug? Thanks again for your help.

Re: C4 Fan Relay
This area is accessed from underneath - ideally ion a hoist, removing the under engine cover and the air deflector will provide access to the area:

Re: C4 Fan Relay
Thanks for that info , Marc. I guess a job for my local garage. I have since found something on Youtube that said if you remove the plug from the temp sensor, the fan should fire up. Is this true for all engines, I think the car they were working on had a diesel? Also, on my 1.6 vti petrol is the temp sensor just below the rad hose on the left side of the engine, held in with a form of spring clip and the wiring plug is black with an orange slide locking device? Thanks once again.

Re: C4 Fan Relay
A quick update and a request for more help please. I have removed the plug from the engine temp sensor ( wasn't easy!) but the fan didn't go. From reading other threads, I understand the fail safe system is that the fan will go at full speed if it is not getting a signal from this sensor. So, does this mean that the fan has failed and needs to be replaced? (or is there another way of powering up the fan using basic equipment only?) If so would it be wise to replace the fan relay on the radiator shroud at the same time? I am trying to avoid numerous visits to my local garage for them to take the undertrays off each time and then try to sell me top dollar replacement parts, when aftermarket can be so much cheaper and the car is a 2013. I assume that the fan can be replaced by working from underneath with the car on a hoist? Any advice most gratefully received, thanks again.
