Hi
I'm looking to upgrade the radio unit in my van. When removing the original unit with the intention of changing to a double din unit I found this box in the lower section - does anyone know what it is and whether it can be removed? I had found replacement fascias to upgrade to a double din unit, however if that cannot be removed then I may look at a single din unit, does anyone know of a replacement fascia that does not have a recess in the bottom section as I've only found these so far.
Thanks

Not sure what "box" you are referring to. Be aware though, that you'll loose access to vehicle functions if you change it. There's the display unit, the radio ECU, and optionally telephone interface kits / stolen vehicle location units all of which can be found in the vicinity.

I've attached an image with the box circled. I've also just pulled it out and taken anther photo, from looking online it might be something related to the bluetooth?
My VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Ok, so that huge monstrosity is in fact the telephone interface unit!
I think it's so large because these commercial vans usually have additional Kuantic kit fitted for fleet management and tracking. You also have that fitted somewhere.
So this unit is likely used for the other stuff too, as well as for making and receiving calls.
The issue with these is that all the systems are interconnected - so if you remove it, then you'll probably find it will throw a wobble and other things may not work - hard to say.

Re: Citroen Relay Radio Unit
Thanks for the replies.
Hmm, ok, I'm torn. My wife wants to retain a CD player for the kid's story CDs! The other option is the stand alone units and leave everything else in situ, my only concern with these is the idea of someone breaking in to nick it. Might be the best option though and just accept having to put it away when parked.... Thanks again
