DS3 1.6 HDi bell housing bolt behind wiring harness

Unread post by TPH90 »

Hey everyone, just trying to remove the gearbox off my DS3 to change the clutch. There's a nut fitted to a stud at the top which is behind a plastic shroud containing a wiring harness. To the right of this, there is a plastic torx screw that appears to be holding the harness in place... The problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the screw!

Sadly I can't get my phone in to take a photo either! Not sure if anyone else has done this and knows how to remove the harness?

Thanks in advance!

The ones at the top are a weapons-grade PITA.

You'll probably find that removing the stud using an inverse-torx "E" socket will be the approach. A small mirror is useful.

I don't remember removing the harness entirely, just getting it loose.

Cheers for the reply, that solved THAT issue! 😂 The problem now is getting the gearbox off! It keeps getting stuck on the subframe. I can't pull it out, twist it out, jiggle it out etc. The turbo is right up against the radiator trying to give myself as much room as possible but it still refuses to budge.

Apparently it's not a subframe out job, but I can't for the life of me see how it's supposed to come out. I've watched videos online and they just wiggle it and it's out within 30 seconds 😂 I'm not having much luck sadly!

Don't suppose you have any pointers do you? Thanks in advance 😊

Have you removed the subframe extensions (if fitted)? You probably need to rotate the whole box forwards so that the diff housing will come out past the subframe.

I don't think it has any? I've attached some photos as I don't know what I'm looking for to be honest 🙈 not sure if any of them help. I've tried rotating the box and it won't budge at all! It's separated a fair bit and I can see there's no bolts or dowels holding it but still no joy... Bloody thing 😂

When I did this job on a Berlingo, I had to remove all the mountings from the gearbox to get it between the chassis rail and subframe.
