DS5 AdBlue and BPGA issues - warranty viable?

Unread post by NZDS2024 »

Hi all
I have a 2018 DS5 2l diesel, 73k km, always serviced.

Within a week 2 issues arose when warnings appeared on the dash. Low pressure in the AdBlue feed and an electrical warning (likely the BPGA according to the fault codes and confirmed by a flat (but only 2 month old) battery).

I see there have been a number of discussions on these 2 issues. A lot in fact!

Has anyone had success in getting DS/Citroen to front up and contribute to the repair (replacement) costs?
It seems, according to the web (!) that these are design faults known to Citroen.

Thoughts?

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

It depends on the exact issue for the Adblue. It may be that you have a clocked urea injector and this can be causing the pressure build up. You really should be adding an anti-crystallisation treatment to the Adblue tank to break down and prevent build up of crystals from forming.

The other issue may be the DeNOx sensor, or the actual tank pump. So until it can be determined what the cause is, it will be hard to nail it. I would suggest that you contact DS and they will want to do a diagnostic to determine the cause - they do have extended support for the tanks, but this depends on the actual issue. So nothing to lose by checking with them first. If it's a clogged urea injector, this is something you should be able to check and clean up if necessary. You will see a white powder clocking the injector nozzle once removed if this is the case.

Hi Marc
Appreciate the feedback.
Added the anti-crystallisation treatment about 700km ago but it hasn't made any difference.
I've gotten a copy of the CAN fault messages from the car; will have a good look at them and see if that sheds any light based on your comments. I'm in New Zealand and the Citroen agents here are quite resistant to anything outside the norm (and they consider this outside the norm!).

Thanks,
Tony
