In the description of the method for changing the timing belt in the resources section, there is reference to the removal of this item along with the engine mountings. I have successfully completed this job (thanks Marc) without removing this rod as I don’t know where it is. I suggest with minimal movement of the motor, it is not an essential part of the process. Hopefully I am correct.

Found it. Apparently a common replacement part as by the look of it would get a good workout over time.
