Hi all,
I have an on going query over on the DS section, but it makes me wonder when our current car was also built ?
This was a pre reg Sept 2023 VIN VR7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I know it was in 2023... but no idea on month.
I wonder now if this is newer build than the DS we are looking at !

You should also be aware that there is an outstanding after-sales campaign for your vehicle...
Code ML8, concerning the BSI software requiring an update. The campaign was launched on 27/03/2024, so I'd get it booked in - all work will be free of charge.

So our 73 plate C4X (potential p/ex) is much newer than a 24 plate DS4 built in Jan 23 , we were looking at!
Bonkers or what... clearly registration plates aren't as reliable guide to age as what I thought!

If we ditch the DS4 purchase, the C4X is due its service next month ,so will get the update done then..

No, registration is something you really cannot rely on, as we've seen before late registered vehicles that were in fact earlier models which left owners very disappointed.
I'm afraid to say DS as a brand is flailing badly. Poor sales and their 2023 announcement of their withdrawal from the Chinese market, plus their own announcement in 2023 that they will become an EV only producer - Good luck with that.... I think the end is near for the offshoot marque.
It leaves the DS9 being made in China, by a company and a plant where they no longer have any investment or control!
Personally I blame the big cheeses that know nothing about the history and the marque of Citroen or the original DS. The DS4 (earlier model) and DS 5 were abysmal vehicles, suffering extremely harsh rides. DS tried to set themselves apart as a luxury brand to compete with the Germans, but all they did was double the prices and still shared most of the same technology as used in Citroen and Peugeot vehicles. Fancy logos and embroidery on the dash, but a lot of the tech was untested and faulty, poor handling, rear end sliding and parts were extortionate. They have suffered with market share.
European sales went from 85k (0.71% of Market Share) in 2014 to 49k (0.48%) in 2022. I doubt things have improved in the last year and a half.
If I were you, I'd probably stick with the C4 X.
