Dispatch 2008 refitting the OEM stereo

Unread post by Kwaka »

I’m refitting the OEM stereo to my Dispatch.
The existing OEM loom has had a change made to it. The yellow wire has been snipped. This appears to go live when the engine is running. I’m not exactly sure where it sits in the ISO connector.
Is there a wiring diagram available so that I can ensure that it’s in the right place.
Thanks for any help.

I'll need to know the code on the yellow wire. If you unwrap some of the black insulating tape, there should be a code printed every few inches on the wire sleeves. Once I have this I can advise on the correct pin. There are 3 wiring blocks, a 12Pin, and 2 x 8 Pin blocks.

Ahh that explains a lot why I’ve been seeing different wiring diagrams!
Yep I’ll have a look at the code tomorrow.
Thank you,

I think it’s AE460.

Unfortunately that isn't it :(

Here's the wiring to the 3 blocks - I don't think you'll have the 12 pin connector as that's for the optional CD. Unfortunately PSA don't use colour codes, as these can change or be changed randomly which isn't any help, hence why I need the wiring code.

These are what they should be and you need to look at the pin numbers which are printed on the sockets somewhere, but hopefully the following should help determine what is missing:

8 Pin Black (Speakers)
8411E : Left-hand front loudspeaker - command
8410E : Left-hand front loudspeaker + command
8430C : Right-hand front loudspeaker + command
8431B : Right-hand front loudspeaker - command
8470B : Right-hand rear loudspeaker + command
8471B : Right-hand rear loudspeaker - command
8450B : Left-hand rear loudspeaker + command
8451B : Left-hand rear loudspeaker - command

8 Pin Black (Power, Earth, CAN)
MC847 : earth mc84
9024F : comfort data high CAN bus
9025F : comfort data low CAN bus
BECE2 / BECE5: Live

Have you tried just plugging the Radio in to see if it works?
All the power & speaker wires appear to be there.
You may find that the cut wire is not original, There is no ignition live feed at the radio connector so when fitting an aftermarket stereo you need to find a separate one from somewhere else like the 12v power socket, it may just have been neatly taped into the original harness with OEM type wiring tape.
Unwrapping the tape off the wire should reveal.

I haven't tried just plugging it in, I was being very cautious!
The cut wire is definitely original, it’s in the loom. It was used as a switched live for the replacement stereo, but it’s only live when the engine is running.
The female terminal that it was connected to was still in the OEM ISO connector, but cut off very short. I extracted the terminal to extend and repair it, but I didn’t take a photo! Stupid stupid. And I slept and can’t remember which one of two places it should be in.
Anyway with the info I’ve got, will have another look.

🤔 the wiring diagram about only shows 4 wires in that block.
You wont do any harm just plugging it in with a wire missing. Just make sure to insulate it.
