C5 X7 2.0l HDI Front suspension torqe

Unread post by Estately »

Hi One and all,

Have just had to remove the front control arms to replace the bushes in the aluminium housings at the back of each control arm. It is a 2013 hydraulically sprung C5 X7 2.0l Estate (Tourer)

I would be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of the torque settings for:

The two bolts that hold the aluminium housings at the rear of the control arm.
The bolt under the drive shaft (a wonderful arrangement)
The bolt and nut that connects the front end of the control arm to the suspension, hub.

I did mark them prior to removal but it's not very scientific particularly for the aluminium housings.

Thanks in advance
Andy.
If it can happen it will.

These procedures should have the relevant torque settings (but your membership upgrade has expired, which you'll need to access this section):

C5 X7 DW10BTED4 Front Pivot Removal - Refitting (Same for the DW10CTED4 engine)

C5 X7 Removing - Refitting Wishbones (Front Suspension Lower Arm)
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Hi Marc,
Sorry my thanks have taken longer than your prompt reply, I have a weak excuse, namely being nabbed by the Stoke boys in blue. I hasten add not the handcuff and truncheon variety but the sharp needle, knife and anaesthetic variety at the NHS.

Anyway less frippery.

The donation has been updated.

I have read through the procedures in particular the one covering wishbones that you kindly referenced.

It refers to bolts 1 & 2 , the ones bolting through the aluminium housings at the rear of the wish bone, more or less in front of the driver and passenger feet.
It refers to bolt 3, left and right hand side, which are fouled by the driveshafts, saying only to place and tighten them.
I think there must be a table missing stating the torque values of bolts 1, 2 and 3.

The C6 may have a similar arrangement and the C5 ll, but given we are tightening into aluminium, I would like to be sure.

The You Tubers suggest different removal procedures but do not state torque values.

So thanks when you have time, I am out of commission until the Stoke NHS work has healed.
Andy.
