Hello
I have RT4 unit. The previous owner was updating the unit and the screen always showed a message "emergency and breakdown calls are disabled". I successfully fixed this "error" with diagbox entering number for calls (manual config), but now I have the problem that the parking assistance does not work. When I shift into reverse, nothing happens on the screen. When scanning the modules, I can see the parking assist module and it is error free. How/where i can enable park assist?
Thank you!

Re: RT4 - no parking aid
You'll need to check the BSI settings to make sure the correct type of parking assistance is configured and enabled.

What vehicle are we talking about - Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

I hope you won't kick me out of the forum because it's not french car.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑10 Aug 2024, 12:42 What vehicle are we talking about - Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.
It is 2009 Lancia Phedra 2.0Hdi RHR (136PS). I select citroen c8 can in diagbox and it works.
This is VIN ZLA17900013391868 but i think it'll not work in your system.

Re: RT4 - no parking aid
Hi, no we don't do that sort of thing, but it does limit the sort of help we can give. I appreciate the Lancia Phedra was one of the 'Eurovans' in common with the 807, C8 & Fiat Ulysse, but as you've said we can't access the specific vehicle data for these variants, so there may be differences.
Back to your RT4 issue, from the screenshot, that is just showing the the parking assistance ECU is present. It does not mean it's working correctly or configured correctly, so
1) Have you changed, installed / replaced the RT4 recently and what year is the vehicle?
2) Have you changed anything in the BSI or configured anything else recently?
3) Run a global diagnostic and what faults if any are reported - list them here
4) If there are no faults showing, what happens when you put the car into reverse? Are there any warning messages coming up on the screen?
5) Do you have rear only or both front & rear parking assistance?
6) Have you replaced the parking assistance ECU?

Re: RT4 - no parking aid
Thank you. I really appreciate your help! Answers to your questions...
1. Car is 2/2009. No i didn't changed RT4 unit but the previous owner did an update. But parking assist was working before I tried to resolve the error with the emergency and breakdown phone number settings
2. No
3. I did global test and the only 2 errors are in engine control module...for glow plugs heating and something about fan speed
4. When i switch to reverse absolutely nothing happens on the RT4/display. Of course, the reverse light comes on at the back. Yes, I remember that the old Phedra displayed an error message if something went wrong with the parking assistance, for example a bad sensor, etc.
5. rear only
6. No

Re: RT4 - no parking aid
Ok, so the likely issue is that there is some incorrect configuration made when you were configuring emergency numbers for the SIM Card.
These are from a C8, so check the values you have. Some options are meant to be set as they are and if changed, they can result in non-function.
You will need to go into the BSI and check the following sections are set correctly:
Activation of the emergency and assistance services

Re: RT4 - no parking aid
I can not find these in BSI...did you think telematics/rt4 ?You will need to go into the BSI and check the following sections are set correctly:
Display of the option "visual detection of an obstacle in proximity" (Parameter available from software version 6.5 of the telematic unit): Active
Display of the option "audible detection of an obstacle in proximity" (Parameter available from software version 6.5 of the telematic unit): Active
Settings in RT4 unit Settings in BSI... And if I change "Parking assistance audible warning emitted by switch module..." to Yes....when I put it into reverse I can hear beeping under steering column. So I think parking assist is working and BSI gets data from it and sends info for "beeping" to COM2000. But the RT4 unit cannot display the park assist info despite the settings from the first picture.
Does this all make sense?

Re: RT4 - no parking aid
That's not supposed to be active for RT4 systems, only for vehicles without a telematics unit, so change it back. RT4 systems out put the sound via the speakers. Vehicles with basic RD4 and parking assistance use the module at the steering wheel.
I can't see you version of Diagbox, but if V9.** you won't be able to configure anything most likely if similar to PSA vehicles without a dealer log in.
In any case, the settings shown in screen 1 and 2 seem to be fine.
Once you've set that back to a BSI reset:
BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

I know...this was only a test to confirm parking assist ecu is working.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑11 Aug 2024, 22:40 That's not supposed to be active for RT4 systems, only for vehicles without a telematics unit, so change it back. I am using diagbox v7.56 on a computer without internet connection.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑11 Aug 2024, 22:40 I can't see you version of Diagbox, but if V9.** you won't be able to configure anything most likely if similar to PSA vehicles without a dealer log in.

I will try the BSI reset although it looks like woodoo magic for me.

Well it can often reset ECUs that are 'stuck' and can help with issues similar to yours. Make sure you follow the timings.
