2002 C5 MK1 VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I'm looking to add Bluetooth for hands-free use and DAB radio to my 2002 C5 MK1. I'd appreciate confirmation or correction on my understanding of the available options.
I believe my C5 has an RD2/RD3 radio, which doesn't have an AUX output. Therefore, if I opt for a dashboard-mounted DAB adapter, I would need to connect it through the FM radio, which seems to be the simplest solution.
From my research, the RD45 radio comes with Bluetooth. I’ve also read that the bi-tuner version includes a DAB+ tuner, requiring only an additional antenna.
Additionally, I found a blog by a Taiwanese enthusiast who upgrades RD3 to RD45 and sells the necessary V2C converter:

However, it appears some messages, such as the "Anti-pollution Fault" warning, are lost in the process. He resolves this by keeping both displays connected.
A third option is to install a single DIN aftermarket radio with the desired features. This would require sourcing a frame and the necessary cables for steering wheel controls. The downside is losing the display functionality, which mainly shows the connected radio station and related information.
I'd appreciate confirmation of these options, corrections if I've misunderstood anything, or additional information if I've overlooked any other possibilities.

Re: 2002 C5 MK1: Confirmation on radio upgrade options
The trouble is your car audio is quite ancient.
The RD45 is for later vehicles and isn't compatible with your vehicle as it stands, as the RD45 along with the requisite screen is totally different, containing options to configure the vehicle - the electrical architecture may also be different and the screen needed for it won't be compatible either I suspect. RD45 was really only an option and fitted to later vehicles briefly, before they fitted better telematics units. RD45 even then was available in several levels and not all had DAB - only some models, but I really don't think this will be feasible.
For Bluetooth, just get an FM adapter that uses a pre-set station to output to the vehicle and plugs into the 12v socket.
DAB options are really limited as they've more or less stopped making these add-on kits that used to be available like the Pure Highway DAB systems that are no longer available.
So you either sacrifice the vehicle interface and get a completely different aftermarket radio or stick with a Bluetooth adapter and keep both. I'd forget about DAB as this is not going to easy without a separate unit, aerial and wiring if you can find one - or are replacing the entire Audio system.
