Citroen Relay PO095 code help, please

Hello everyone.

I have a 2012 2.2 diesel Citroen Relay which i have nearly finished converting to a motorhome. I want to get it MOT'ed and on the road but i am strugling with a recent error code which is triggering the engine management light.
I have a OBD reader which tells me the code is P0095 Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction.

I assumed this is the MAF sensor which is located between the air filter and intake manifold. I have replaced this and cleared the error. The thing is it is still showing on the reader has a 'permanent fault' which wont clear and the EM light keeps coming back on after a short period of time.

My question is- Is there a seperate intake temp sensor on the inlet manifold anywhere, has well has the one which is built into the MAF sensor ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's likely to be another sensor, might be integrated into the MAP sensor. Can you see live data on your scanner?

You want to see if there is a second inlet temp reading, and if it agrees with the first.

Ive pulled the van out today and hooked it up. It looks like there is only the one intake air temp sensor built into the MAF sensor has there is only one air intake temp reading.

I started it up and sure enough the EM light came on again and the reader gave the same fault ( P0095 Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction) yet on the live view it is giving a normal looking reading for the air temperature.

I cleared the fault again with my scanner and it cleared the fault light. When i used the scanner to diagnose the ECM it still had the fault in memory (P0095 Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction)
and it said 'permanent fault'.

So i pulled the connector off the MAF sensor with the engine running and to my surprise the EM light didnt come straight on, but the engine started to tick over a little rougher. I then plugged the connector back on and i noticed the 'Air flow rate from MAF sensor' was lower, reading around 7 - 8 g/s whatever that is. Previously it was reading around 15-16 g/s.

Whilst it was giving this lower reading i checked the fault memory for the ECM and that 'permanent fault' had gone so i thought it had cured it.
I stopped the van and restarted it, and guess what- the EM light was back on and the fault was back, also the 'Air flow rate from MAF sensor' was back up to 15-16 g/s. (by the way all these readings were taken with the van ticking over.

I have attached a few pics i took of the readings i was getting, perhaps someone can tell me if they look around normal. The first one is showing the lower air flow rate when the fault seemed to clear, the second one shows the higher rate, and the final one shows the intake air temp.

Any help to finally sort this would be appreciated.

The accelerator position sensors should I think have similar readings as they are supposed to provide a backup of each other and yours are showing different values.

As I don't know what engine this relates to, it would be helpful to post up your VIN so we know what we are looking at. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Im not getting any errors relating to the accelerator, its just this stubborn air temp sensor error that keeps coming back. The VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Our 2007 C5 has the 2.2 hdi engine.

If a new MAF did not help then the wiring/connector might have a problem.

I noticed on your readings at the right side in black is a range - is this the range of values actually being given since for the inlet temp it shows 30 - 8? which might be it goes up to 80°C. The actual value ought to be ambient before the first start of the day but I have found on our cars as the engine runs it will creep up to possibly 40°C due to heat from the engine.

On our car the air flow on tick over when warm is about 7 g/s but it can jump to about 15 g/s with the rpm staying the same and blipping the accelerator will drop it back down. When cold it is about 11 g/s. I am probably wrong but maybe this could be something to do with the egr valve

Unfortunately your code reader isn't providing the full code - there should be another 2 digits at the end so unable to provide exact description.

If it's: P0095 (Inlet air temperature sensor at the manifold):

P0095 16, it's: Voltage below the lower threshold
P0095 17, it's: Voltage above the lower threshold
P0095 16, it's: Voltage variation outside the tolerance[/b

UPDATE
I went to my local MOT station and explained the situation. He said not to worry about it has he would take the light off before putting it through the MOT.

He did just that and now its all legal i took it for a good run and the light hasnt come back on since. I think it just needed a few miles under its belt to settle everything down.

'GiveMeABreak' - Can you tell me exactly which engine it has from the VIN number i gave you, it might prove useful in the future.
